Hello everyone,

I would like to prepare our attic for the future, meaning it will most likely become a bedroom (children’s room or bedroom :-)).

Possible uses for us (initially):

- Storage space
- A shared retreat for the children
- Guest room

The roof pitch is approximately 30°.

Question:
I would like to bring more light into the attic.

Next to the entrance (west side), a small bathroom is planned.

Where else would you suggest adding windows, and which types?

Wishing you all a great weekend!

Best regards

It is best to prepare the space now and install double casement windows afterwards.

We have about 53 sqm (570 sq ft) available.

To the left of the entrance, it might be possible to plan a small bathroom, including a roof window.

On the right, a small storage room for, for example, winter/summer clothing, etc.

What about the rest? No ideas yet... maybe someone can suggest something :-) ... perhaps @kaho674?!

Thanks!

Have a nice Sunday.

Without a rough room layout, it’s difficult to make any suggestions. Just plan the rooms as they might be and many things will naturally fall into place.

For future expansions, start thinking about and preparing the infrastructure now (water, wastewater, electricity, heating, network, etc.).

Is the house already built, or is it still in the planning stage? If the latter, consider a staggered roof design.

The planning is finalized, the architect is just waiting for my signature on the building permit application, which should happen next week.

Also, a gable roof is planned, but it looks quite odd from the outside. I have only seen this kind of setup with shed roofs before.

Thanks anyway!!
