Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

After May 2015:

By the way, I really like the "permanently fixed" mud flap.

Mine will have a "special" patterned doormat
Do you already have a picture? Those small slip-on mats annoy me a lot as well.

Finally finished our wooden terrace including the edging and fence, and applied oil twice yesterday.
Unfortunately, it took longer than expected 🙄.
Next time, I will probably use clear oil.

Excavated building pit in the backyard next to a house, shovel and wooden planks lying beside it.

Exterior view of a modern brick house under construction, unpaved yard and wheelbarrow.

Wooden deck terrace under a gray metal pergola at the house, garden and fence visible.

Modern brick house facade with large windows, red wooden deck and gray privacy fence.

Covered wooden terrace at the house with red floor, gray metal frame, and dark privacy walls.

Oh – why is that? Of course, you have an idea in mind, but honestly, I actually like the rich color. It changes over time anyway and looks different once the space is lived in or used.
We tried what felt like 300 different colors on our Douglas fir floorboards for the interiors and also got professional advice to match the exposed roof structure. But nowhere did it feel quite right, and we realized we perceived it differently. Often, people tend to choose a more neutral color to be safe.
In the end, we decided on a shade that is completely different from what we initially expected because we wanted to eliminate the reddish tint of the Douglas fir. At the moment, we only have one board treated, and the overall effect will be very different, but I’m already quite confident we will like it.
Maybe it would look different in a high-gloss brochure than what you have, but I would like it just this way as well.

Let's see how the color changes.
We preferred the original color before oiling 🙂.
I'm glad the terrace is finally finished; that's the most important thing 😀.
The projects keep getting smaller and smaller. After almost 2 years of planning and a lot of DIY work, the energy is slowly fading 😳.
