Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

The wall structure there is indeed very thick.

We actually have a standard wall assembly with a total thickness of about 45 cm (18 inches).
Ytong (aerated concrete blocks), mineral wool insulation, facing bricks...

However, where the window sills are so deep, we used a wider Ytong block to create a setback in the front elevation. I have two gables that therefore protrude slightly...

The wood is:
Wild and knotty oak, white oiled.

Thanks for the explanation.

If I didn’t believe that stone looks better over time, I would have chosen it too – although I can’t afford that kind of thing :-p

But I believe they are more expensive. We paid about 30 euros per windowsill. You won't get any oak sills for that price.

The chimney did not turn pink after all. Today and tomorrow, the stairwell will be plastered. After that, everything inside except the bathrooms will be finished.
Next week, the exterior will be plastered. The weather is perfect for it.
The palisades for the stairs have already arrived.

Somehow, everything still feels quite small

Construction site: Interior made of concrete with ladder, two crossed support arches, and small window.

Construction site: Concrete room with window opening, orange prop, red supports, building materials.
