Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Here is a quick update from me as well. At the beginning of the week, our heating system was commissioned, connected by the electrician, and put into operation.

So far, everything is running smoothly and properly. Hopefully, it will stay that way for a long time.

The painter is busy sanding and priming. By early next week, the first two rooms on the ground floor are expected to be ready for painting.

In the meantime, our tiler has already installed the cladding wall in the living area. We really like how it turned out.

Next week, the drywall installer is expected to finish the upper floor so that the painter and tiler can carry out their work there as well.

Slowly but surely, we are approaching the finish line. After 8 months of construction, you start to look forward to moving into your new home.

Meanwhile, our tiler has already installed the feature wall with facing bricks in the living area. We really like it.

Next week, the drywall installer is expected to finish the upper floor, so the painter and tiler can continue working there.

I like the living room!
Is the 8 months with or without a basement? Without a basement, that would definitely be too long for me.

Thank you.

No basement. However, based on our experience, a 10-month construction period is rather the minimum. With every prefabricated house provider we visited, there was already a waiting time of 10 to 14 months before delivery. This was also one of the reasons why we eventually switched to a solid (or traditional) build.

As long as nothing significant gets in the way, we are satisfied. From our point of view, the work has been carried out carefully and precisely so far, which is much more important to us personally than rushing and poor workmanship just to save a month or two.

Prefab house construction is a bit misleading when you factor in the waiting time plus delivery delays—you’re actually much faster with traditional solid construction. I’m not necessarily a benchmark here, since every day since the start of construction there have been tradespeople on my site (except during Christmas). I know others where nothing happened for a month at a time. How large is the living area?

The "pure" living area is just under 30m² (320 sq ft). However, we have an open-plan living and dining area of approximately 55m² (590 sq ft).

what do you mean by "too long"... as if you could really influence that yourself...
