Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Oh, that’s new...
Well, I’m curious now.
I’ll send him an email or give him a call.

It certainly doesn’t hurt; ours is also room air-independent and certified by the DIBt. The stove manufacturer then said that the certification might have been unnecessary because the chimney sweep requires a monitoring device anyway... I hadn’t really dealt much with the fireplace topic since there were plenty of other things to take care of, and we also wanted to first see if the stove was still affordable. Fortunately, it was still possible to install a conduit to the chimney... otherwise, it would have been a difficult situation.

Here is another update from my construction site. One of my neighbors had a prefabricated house built using concrete panels. The manufacturer, or rather the distributor, sold it to him as being ready to paint on the inside right away (without the need for filling or sanding). Well, he took their word for it. It’s really frustrating how people get misled like this and end up in financial trouble. They don't actually benefit from it at all.

If you like the look, you can definitely sell it as ready to paint...

...you mean the numerous unfilled joints on the ceiling and wall without plaster and the many half air bubbles in the wall?

The client was not aware of this. Just imagination running wild. The salesperson says something, you picture it differently, don’t ask if it’s really like that, and then you have a problem.

We will not be plastering our ceilings, but at least I have arranged for people to do the filling, sanding, and painting.

A colleague of mine built a flat roof bungalow using prefabricated components. Inside, the walls and ceilings are just plain concrete with exposed joints. It also features large oak floorboards, which definitely give it character. If you expect something different, or if the customer was perhaps intentionally misled, that’s unfortunate.
