I have to admit that before I started looking into house construction, I associated plaster facades with something completely negative. Only since building a house have I realized how wrong that was. I dare say many people here think the same way. Among my friends who are currently building, no one, except for one case, has even considered plaster facades. That one exception was actually due to financial reasons. It’s quite remarkable how different regions are. In the south, based on my experience, you could probably confirm the opposite if you swapped the terms plaster and brick cladding.
Anyway, everyone should build in the way that suits them and makes them happy. After all, you build a home for yourself, not to please others.

Associating plastered facades with "poor people," similar to government cars without radios and chrome trim, is something I can understand. However, the idea that brick facades are low-maintenance in the sense of staying clean by themselves, in my opinion, belongs to the realm of myths.
@Zaba12: “Klicker” means something different; in Saarland, it refers to marbles, and sometimes testicles are also vulgarly called that. I only know “verklickern” as meaning “to tell someone something.”
Then grab your camera and take a walk around the construction area. A house photo thread is not a silent movie; showing pictures is simply the common theme.

Exactly. It's something for people like us who aren’t wealthy, but for people like us, the house is paid off and the bank is not listed on the property deed, so it’s truly owned…. I have often felt that you look down on us. K.Karsten, that was not directed at you.
My house was certainly somewhat more expensive, but most of it belongs to the bank.
I’m not really looking down on anyone. I also added that it was an exaggerated statement.
To lighten the mood, here are some photos even though they are not very exciting:
- I forgot to tell the plasterer that the reveals should be plastered because of a sliding door, so he had to remove and redo the work through no fault of his own.
- In case anyone is interested, the chimney is the Schiedel Grande S in pink and faces the kitchen/dining area.
