Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Exactly. My lawn—and I emphasize my lawn because I don’t let my wife get involved—was sown in May, watered, mowed regularly from June onwards, and fertilized twice. It’s so dense and soft underfoot that weeds don’t stand a chance. I mow twice a week, now only once, using an AL-KO mulching mower. I remove the few attempts of weed growth with a Fiskars weed puller.

The seed used was LORD lawn seed, the "Superrasen" mix purchased from a gardener. Fertilized with a mixture from the agricultural supplier containing magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, nitrogen, and some sulfur.

There is a slope at the back... the houses behind are higher.

In that case, I would have approached the planning differently. The plot almost demands a basement with an integrated entrance.
That way, the height difference could at least be managed under cover. It would have allowed for even more height adjustment and created more level space behind the house.

I’m simply curious about the reasons for this approach, because without pictures of the other side, the house just doesn’t seem to fit the plot to me, even though the house itself looks fine.

Please disregard my post on p. 698. I don’t know what it’s doing there; it referred to some comment about roll-out turf somewhere... now it’s just there, and I can’t remove it. K.

Of course, we have a basement with an entrance on the north side. The house is elevated because of the sewer system – at least if you want to work with a natural slope and avoid relying on an electric pump or lifting station for life – no other elevation is possible.
By the way, there are pictures from all sides – just try the search function here.

Best regards

Is that everything?

For now, yes.
kaho674 schrieb:
Inside?

Private, just like the floor plans.

Kitchen?

Installed, but also private. After all, this is a house construction forum, not the interior design section.

Garden?

About 55 newly planted bushes around the edge. The lawn still needs time to grow.

Paths?

Prepared with compacted gravel around the house. Paving will be done in 2019.

Best regards

When I look at the stairs next to the garage (11 steps at about 20cm (8 inches) each), is the height difference more than 2 meters (6.5 feet) over 6–8 meters (20–26 feet)? So a slope of 25–30%?

The steps are each 15 cm (6 inches) high. The distance from the street to the front door is more than 14 meters (46 feet). Because the area under the porch is being paved flat, the incline extends over 12.5 meters (41 feet). That results in an angle of 7.8 degrees or a slope of 13.75 percent.
