Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Our interior plastering is now completely finished. Gypsum plaster was used in the living areas and lime-cement plaster in the bathrooms. Very neat and smooth workmanship.
From now on, we need to ventilate regularly. This is not so easy with a 20-minute one-way commute [emoji13]

It's great to see good progress happening!

Which do you currently prefer in direct comparison: gypsum plaster or lime-cement plaster?

The lime-cement plaster is rougher, which I actually prefer. Unfortunately, we were advised against applying it throughout the entire house because of its rough texture. However, I think it's perfect for that, and I almost regret that we only have it in the bathrooms. It would be ideal as a base for a coarse textured plaster in an eco style.

Thank you for your assessment – honestly, I see it quite the same way.

Here in our region, the trend for many is towards gypsum plaster – considered the "best" solution. It goes without saying that both options have their pros and cons.

Since we do not have a mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery, it will probably be a lime-cement plaster. The quality of the plasterer is crucial for this, as the entire outcome often depends on their work.

The recess in the wall without finishing trim... also looks incomplete, in my opinion. The edge just looks messy/unfinished.

The recess in the wall has not been grouted yet... that’s why it looks incomplete.

@Arifas: You definitely have to show the lamp, we have a similar hallway with that ceiling.

@munger71: Ah, the bathtub looks different here, it’s going to be a cozy corner!
What is shown in picture 2? The stairwell?

That is the stairwell. We have a staircase with a landing, covered with stone flooring.
