Hello everyone,
we are currently planning the lighting design for the hallway on the upper floor using LED spotlights. At the moment, we are relying on our intuition to determine the correct number and placement of the LED spots. Our current plan is as follows. I would appreciate your opinions on whether we might have overlooked anything. Since we have a landing staircase to the upper floor, it is important to us that it is properly illuminated.
Attached is our floor plan of the hallway with the LED spots marked. Please feel free to provide honest feedback and suggestions for improvement.
The hallway is 3.26 m (10.7 ft) wide and 7.07 m (23.2 ft) long.
Thank you very much and best regards,
julianpe

hampshire3 Nov 2019 12:26The positioning is quite good. Now you just need to find the right light bulbs. These vary significantly in quality. Important factors are: uniformity of light distribution, glare tendency, brightness, beam angle, and color temperature. This determines whether the result will be good or bad.

hampshire3 Nov 2019 12:41Uniformity and glare aren’t usually mentioned in data sheets, and it’s surprising how different lights from various manufacturers can look even when they have the same 3000K color temperature. It’s essential to check them out in person—not in a store with 1,000 lights all switched on at once.
For example, I was convinced by Luxvenum spotlights in the standard size, which we have in our bathroom. They provide very even and comfortable light and are reasonably priced. I’m really impressed by Ansorg—they come from the professional commercial lighting sector but also supply private projects. Their recessed downlights come in unique sizes. The quality of light is simply outstanding. The prices are on the higher side but still reasonable. We have them, among other places, in the entrance and the covered part of our terrace.

Nowadays, I wouldn’t use spotlights anymore. Instead, I’d go for flat LED fixtures. This also cuts the number of lights needed in half. The light distribution is better, and the wiring effort is reduced. Can you name a manufacturer or model? I would be happy to take a look at them.
Thank you very much
