Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

What do you need the elevator for?
Metalwerner1 Sep 2017 14:30
The elevator is intended for the situation where one of us can no longer (easily) climb stairs or uses a wheelchair. We originally planned to build a single-story house for accessibility reasons, but the plot was a bit too small for that, so we decided on two floors instead, with an elevator. For now, the shaft remains empty. The elevator can be installed later if the need arises. Of course, it is also possible to create an entrance to the house from the side through the garden, so you don’t have to go up the stairs at the main entrance. We are both still relatively young, but you never know. I often drive long distances on the highway for work, and accidents can always happen.
Best regards, Werner

That’s quite a steep slope behind the house. How will you manage the water runoff?

Water has not been a problem since the road above the property was equipped with a drainage channel in 1969. Surface water infiltrates well, as there is a large unsealed area above the road. The groundwater level is deeper.
The slope behind the house is 42 degrees. Behind the garage, it is slightly steeper.
