Metalwerner1 Sep 2017 14:30The elevator is intended for the situation where one of us can no longer (easily) climb stairs or uses a wheelchair. We originally planned to build a single-story house for accessibility reasons, but the plot was a bit too small for that, so we decided on two floors instead, with an elevator. For now, the shaft remains empty. The elevator can be installed later if the need arises. Of course, it is also possible to create an entrance to the house from the side through the garden, so you don’t have to go up the stairs at the main entrance. We are both still relatively young, but you never know. I often drive long distances on the highway for work, and accidents can always happen.

The slope behind the house is 42 degrees. Behind the garage, it is slightly steeper.
