ᐅ Concrete slab with defects?

Hello

I was pleased to inspect the progress of my build on Friday. The foundation slab has been completed. Aside from incorrect dimensions of the garage attached to the house, I noticed a few minor issues:

- The external perimeter insulation between the slab edge formwork and the concrete shows gaps of about 1 cm (0.4 inches) in several places, especially at the corners. What is the best way to address this?

- One section of the formwork has a slight curve and is not completely straight. The same question applies here as well.

- In areas where rainwater puddles have formed, you can scrape off a very thin layer of concrete with a fingernail. At these spots, the concrete appears to have fine cracks. Should I be concerned about this?

- On the concrete of the garage, especially along the edges inside the formwork, there are very small visible steel fibers. Again: is this something to worry about?

- Some stones in the edge formwork above show slight cracks. The same question applies here too.

Unfortunately, I was not present during the concreting process, so I do not know what preparations were made before the concrete was poured.

Thank you in advance for your help

Brick facade?
Was the foundation slab covered?

I find it hard to imagine the insulation situation, so I agree with the previous poster.

Regarding the edge of the slab, do you mean formwork blocks that have been filled with concrete?

How wide are the cracks in the concrete? There are limit values that must not be exceeded after curing. Since you mention they are minimal, it’s probably not an issue.

However, if the reinforcement is visible, that definitely indicates a defect. Do you have photos of the reinforcement before pouring the concrete?

Hello,

thank you very much for your replies. Attached are a few pictures.

As a note: there is no perimeter insulation installed on the side of the garage slab. Although insulation is mentioned in the offer, the building permit/planning permission only shows a 24cm (9.5 inches) exterior wall at the garage.

I have tried to document the minor cracks in the concrete, the partially visible steel fiber content, the gaps between the insulation, partly cracked blocks, and 1-2 walls that have a slight curve (difficult to capture).

Just a quick tip for future questions and photos: always include a scale. For details, the approximate size is only understandable if the actual measurement is shown and clearly visible.

The house will have a brick facade. The slab was not covered.

Filling sand was compacted. The trenches were dug and filled with concrete. Then a perimeter wall was built, the insulation was installed. After that, the concrete was poured.
