The foundation slab will be poured at 10 a.m. Wow, that is very close to the retaining wall – how do you keep it reliably dry?

Too much steel certainly doesn’t hurt. Well, the steel definitely needs to stay properly embedded in concrete.

For us, it worked out within that timeframe (including the basement). We only had quick-set screed in the boiler room. But that’s pretty standard, right? It didn’t seem like shoddy work to me. Just well organized without long waiting times.
Today I finally had time to start working on the workshop in the basement. I made good use of the leftover kitchen countertop. Are those Ikea shelves?11ant schrieb:

Well, the steel has to be properly encased in concrete to remain protected. The old wall will remain. It is quite uneven and irregular. Each part of the building was constructed into the hillside as far as possible using manual labor. This saved on disposal and slope stabilization, plus there will be a new wall for the garden.
In front of that, there will be a new wall made of watertight concrete (tank waterproofing). Between the new and old wall, there will be insulation. The remaining space will be backfilled.
The concrete wall will be 20 or 22 cm (8 or 9 inches) thick, if I remember correctly.
