Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

....I just had to smile about the topic of sun protection. A new building is being constructed opposite, and the "darkest" semi-detached house, which hardly ever gets any sunlight, is being advertised as being surrounded by "natural shade," so you can save on expensive sun protection. That’s one way to look at it.

connect a pulse generator in between. One pulse every 2 seconds, like an electric fence. On the other hand, the metal strips are not particularly expensive either.

I’m also happy with the venetian blinds, but it was quite annoying in the fall when they rolled up during storms...

We rely on natural cooling and a reasonable roof overhang. Closing the windows in summer is out of the question for me. On the contrary, thanks to folding glass walls, we can open almost the entire width of the living area. Finally, we were able to save money and decided against: no external venetian blinds, no roller shutters.

We will have semi-permeable screens.
Additionally, active and passive cooling will be possible.
Of course, large window openings of up to 10 meters (33 feet) in length.

No prison. Large window units with louvers slightly tilted open.

You can still look out through bars. So, it’s a prison after all...

The best approach is like in Hampshire—saving money and avoiding those unsightly bars that always remind you of offices or industrial buildings.

But those bars only address the symptoms; the real issue is often unnecessarily large window facades. Without a view, or with a view of a main road or neighbors, in my opinion, they are just a trend and nonsense. Like bell-bottom pants—yuck.
