Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Is this going to turn into a competition about who has the shortest construction times? That still doesn’t say anything about the quality of the house.

@KingSong I really like your window seat!

Thanks! I hope it will look even better once it’s fully plastered, painted, and lined with wood on the inside! Then just add some cozy cushions on top, and the favorite spot is ready!

If it were a contest for the "most nerve-wracking shell construction," there wouldn't be much competition—I think R.Hotzenplotz would have very few rivals :-(

Why the “battle”? I just want to show that construction times under 8 months (both solid construction and timber frame) are quite realistic and achievable without any rush or pressure. The rent saved during this time goes directly toward loan repayment; it may be a small amount, but it adds up.
On the other extreme: my sister-in-law plans to leave the shell structure exposed to freezing temperatures over winter. I don’t understand what that is supposed to achieve, since plaster and screed (which involve large amounts of water) won’t be applied until next year. But she can afford it and is willing to do it. I couldn’t.

@niri09 That was all back in 2017. But yes, the interior was completely finished and the front entrance stairs were done as well. We moved in during the first week of August, and the landscaping contractor completed the garden in September. Since then, there has been nothing left to do.

Unfortunately, this is often beyond one’s control. There is no reason to complain even with a 9-month construction period.

That’s not true?!? .... We still have work to do after 4 years!
