Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

But the garage is usually frost-free in winter even without insulation, right? And if it’s not for a few days, who cares?

That’s exactly the point: having the garage frost-free in winter and being able to work on projects without the heat, for example from a gas heater, just dissipating immediately.

@hstkai, how did you handle the ventilation? Do you have any pictures of it?
I simply drilled a hole about 10cm (4 inches) in diameter in each rafter bay on the outside and installed a ventilation grille. If you trust the claims from ISOVER, the humidity-variable vapor retarder should be sufficient on its own.

As promised, our foundation slab was poured today.

By the way, it’s not 20cm (8 inches), but 25cm (10 inches). Apparently, that’s what the structural engineer wanted.

Freshly poured concrete slab in wooden foundation frame on construction site, construction vehicle on the right.

@denz. Normally, the foundation slab looks surprisingly small, but yours looks huge. How many square meters do you have?

Yes, the total floor area is 203 sq m (2,185 sq ft). However, the large double garage with the adjoining workshop area is also a prominent feature.

I think the perspective also makes it appear even larger.

Was the one in your photo already finished? It looks very poorly smoothed.

Best regards,
