Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

@i_b_n_a_n I like the wooden ceiling. How is it made, what kind of boards are they, and how are they fixed?
The ceiling is made of solid wood. On the ground floor, these are 16cm (6.3 inches) glulam beams (glue-laminated timber) made from spruce/fir in a clear wood grade. They are sanded and oiled twice. By the way, the walls are also solid wood with a thickness of 10cm (4 inches). On top of that is just drywall.

We have underfloor heating!

We finally need to finish painting the house so the scaffolding can come down.
However, our energy and motivation are quite limited.

We are definitely starting to feel the effects of the last three months quite clearly in both body and mind.

And the screed is now installed as well.

Interior photo of a construction site: wooden frame, worker in orange, muddy floor with pipes.

Construction site floor with several piles of sand and cement, interior with window and insulation.

Construction room with fresh screed floor, pile of concrete, wooden frame and visible insulation.

The pictures show that it’s not completely finished yet.

Interior construction site with wooden studs, cables on the floor, and smooth concrete floor.

I somehow thought that stuff would be more liquid 🙂

In three days, we’ll be allowed inside for the first time. But it will probably be more like five days because with the forecasted 33 and 39°C (91 and 102°F), we’d rather stay with our old dog in the cool apartment. I’m really curious about Monday when we’ll take our first look inside.

We have now decided against textured wallpaper and opted for paintable fleece wallpaper, which is currently being applied. The colors are as follows (I’m skipping photos, as they look different on every monitor):

Ceilings (including the utility room, but without fleece wallpaper):
--------------------------------------------------------------
Caparol, Light White L96 C2 H109

Walls (including the utility room, but without fleece wallpaper):
-------------------------------------------------------------
Caparol, Curry 60 L94 C11 H90

We plan to apply striking (possibly self-adhesive) wallpapers to certain walls or hang large-scale pictures.

I really like images from the "NYC Dance Project," but I want to research whether a slightly lighter background would be possible, as gray tones/dark colors make me feel sad.

The exterior facade of our house has now been plastered, and painting may start next week. I will share new photos here as soon as the scaffolding is removed. 🙂

Addendum:
This weekend, I will be cleaning the windows and window sills in the new house for the first time. If anyone has helpful tips, I would appreciate it. I have already read the window manufacturer's recommendations.

I will probably also sweep the floors and remove coarse dirt. All gently done by hand. 🙂

Our general contractor hired a company that came with a ceramic plate scraper and dishwashing liquid. I believe they charged 200 euros for the cleaning at that time.
Every single window damage was meticulously documented for complaints.
