hi,
we are currently renovating our bedroom and want to replace everything. However, we can’t agree on a color. What color would you suggest? As mentioned, we want everything new, and everything should be coordinated with the wall color. So, what do you think is a nice color?

Our bedroom in the new house has light brown/beige walls. On one wall, there are three dark brown stripes as a small accent, and on the sloped ceiling above the bed, I painted a nice quote in dark brown with the help of a projector. It looks really great!

When furnishing the bedroom, it is important to remember that bedrooms primarily serve as a place for rest and relaxation. Therefore, I believe that calm and muted colors should dominate the bedroom rather than bold or vibrant ones.

So, with Monie, the bedroom tends to be quite calm and not too wild. After all, it’s meant for relaxation.

Just to clarify, in case anyone gets the wrong idea—it’s about colors.

Right now, we have a light green downstairs and a pale yellow upstairs. I actually find that a bit bland. I think in the new house there will be a few more accent colors. When I’m sleeping, I close my eyes, so the colors don’t matter to me; but when you’re in the bedroom otherwise, it should look nice. Of course, not all four walls neon green.

So, have you come to a decision yet? :-)

I agree with Musketier – if your eyes are closed, the color doesn’t really matter. If you’re not a very light sleeper, you can definitely go bold with the color! I think a dark purple or teal blue looks great. In my opinion, it works best if only the wall behind the bed is painted. Also, it’s a good idea to leave at least 10cm (4 inches) of white space at the top of colored walls; it makes the room look more elegant and tidy (it really does).

Many years ago (I was still in school at the time 🙂) I attended a Feng Shui course during a project week. What I "learned" there was very interesting, especially since I was redecorating my apartment at that time. Among other things, we focused on colors. In Feng Shui, certain colors are believed to promote or inhibit specific emotions or states of mind. For example, green is considered a learning color—meaning it is recommended to use more shades of green around the desk area. Red is a very energetic color and works well in the kitchen—but not at all in the bedroom, where you usually want to relax and sleep. Blue tones and earthy colors are better suited for that. Of course, the topic is much more detailed, and anyone interested can find plenty more information through a simple online search.

Warm, soothing tones. Like beige or cream. I would definitely avoid red, as it is said to be aggressive...
