Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

@Snowy36 for @Muc1985, it’s more a matter of choosing between quality, appearance, and price.
Josko is not the ultimate option yet...
Still, I find the comment somewhat odd. Money matters to everyone.
Anyone who can afford a single-family home can’t really complain financially.

Well, there are definitely differences between single-family homes... A 110 sqm (1,184 sq ft) prefab house is something completely different from, for example, your house... No need to find that odd right away. Our neighbors have Josko windows, and theirs cost three times as much as ours, even though we have aluminum-wood windows ourselves...

Of course, there are differences, but everyone has to “stretch themselves a little.”
Similarly, someone could claim that money is no issue for you just because they live in a small rental apartment and don’t have a detached house.
But now, let’s get back to the house pictures.

I’ll lighten up the thread with some photos of our house.
We now have a staircase!

Open wooden staircase under construction, yellow tape on the steps, toolbox to the right.

Unfinished wooden interior staircase with railing; tools, paint, and cleaning supplies on the floor.

Wooden handrail and railing on a white stair wall next to the steps, window on the left.

Upstairs hallway under renovation: two windows, wooden balustrade, staircase; tools lying around.

Lower stairs under construction: white walls, wooden steps, yellow gloves on a wooden board.

P.S.: According to the plans, the post that extends about 1cm (0.4 inches) into the staircase above should actually end flush with the railing. It bothers me a bit visually.
Is it reasonable to complain about this, or would that be nitpicking?
I'm a fan of symmetry.^^ A few millimeters wouldn’t bother me as much, but this one sticks out about 1cm (0.4 inches).

Could you please mark exactly what you mean with an arrow? I’m afraid I can’t follow you right now.

Thank you!

It’s about the parapet with the heating circuit distributor. The stair post is attached there but doesn’t align properly. It would probably bother me too, but then my wife would likely remind me that over six years ago I promised to install the baseboards in the kitchen of our rental apartment—and apparently I haven’t had a problem with that since...

@kati1337 I thought the forum and you had agreed that you both are quite the nerds. So I’m surprised that you’ll be operating the roller shutters manually instead of having a smart solution?
