Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Could you please tell me why people say you shouldn't have a stove in a new build? We currently have a stove in our older house and plan to have one in the new house as well. Partly for the atmosphere, but also to have an alternative in case everything else fails. You can cook something on the stove if necessary, and it also provides heat. And no, we are not preppers.

How do you distribute the heat in your house?

We have solved this very simply and radically by living in one room. In the "entrance laundry room," there is an additional electric infrared heater installed in the ceiling. So far, we haven’t installed any heating in the bathroom because we haven’t found anything suitable—the open sliding door has been enough. The guest toilet has no exterior wall, is unheated, and yet is always warm enough.

The heat distribution is, of course, not perfectly even, but it is comfortable everywhere. To warm up quickly without lighting the stove, we hope to soon get the Eve Tubes as a portable helper and an attractive object.

@Pinkiponk The current houses are so well insulated that most stoves are oversized and heat the room excessively in a very short time.

This is clearly one of the downsides of this forum. You get so many suggestions for beautiful and interesting items that you cannot afford.
I love Antonio’s partially built-in bathtub. And his "clay ball washbasin," to put it somewhat disparagingly. Also great is the toilet paper holder with the small, integrated bidet spray.

Also nice. We fell in love with a fire pit from gartenmetall:

Yes, they are local to us and have many great products like privacy screens, garden benches, path edging, and more. Unfortunately, everything is a bit pricey. But I like the corten steel.

Exactly, most of them.

It also depends on the quality of the stove installer. We have a 12 kW (13 hp) stove from Eggenfelden. Even after burning it three times in a row, the temperature only rises by about 1 degree Celsius (1.8°F)...
I wouldn’t want to be without mine anymore; it’s on almost every evening and sometimes early in the morning on weekends as well.
