Hello,

in our newly built house (built in 2016) we currently do not have a heating system and only use the wood stove in the living room (6 kW). We heat from around 4 p.m. after work until about 10 p.m. Then, when we go to bed, the temperature inside is around 21.5°C (71°F). The stove is then turned off.

In the mornings, we wake up to about 17.5°C (63°F). (Current outside temperature at night is about -1/-2°C (30/28°F))

Is this normal? It seems like a significant temperature loss to me. Our house is about 145 m² (1,560 ft²).
I remember the seller saying how long the temperature would be maintained, etc.

What are your experiences?

Is it a timber frame construction (prefabricated house)? The screed only gets warm on the surface (or is this from the stove?), and all the rooms around the living room are also rather unevenly heated (?). Take good care of your building structure...

Air simply stores very little energy.

Ventilation systems? Normally, this heat loss is excessive.

No, we don’t have a ventilation system, and the stove is not connected to the heating. We are already fully furnished. The house is a solid wood timber house.

What does "Take care of your building structure..." mean? – Well, we are monitoring the humidity. It stays between 48% and 52%. Measured in the living room downstairs and the bedroom upstairs. We thought that was acceptable.

You heat very selectively and therefore probably have large temperature differences between rooms—especially between 10 PM in the living room and 7 AM in the children’s room (a room located some distance away).
Don’t say it has to be a problem... but it could be under certain circumstances.

The difference is indeed high, but still explainable. Do you have underfloor heating? Please run your heating system continuously and check after one week if you still experience such fluctuations.

What are your experiences here?

What does that mean?
Is no heating installed?

There won’t be any experience to share, since a new build without heating is neither planned nor purchased, nor can it be occupied, approved after construction, and therefore inhabited.

A 6 kW wood-burning stove is not a permanent alternative.

What is the temperature around 3 p.m.?
