Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

The circular road is located within the built-up area. The second access was shown in the building permit / planning permission application, and the road authority only added the note: It is recommended to use the farm track. A second access would have to be constructed at our expense as a special use.

Exiting via the farm track is difficult because it is situated in a slight curve, making it hard to see the road and the pedestrian path. That is why I wanted the second access in the first place.

Since no application for this county road access had been submitted at the time, the authority was not yet prepared to give the straightforward response in clear German – which would have been: "No necessity is seen for this access, as it is sufficiently provided via the service road." I suspect the service road connects to a municipal road, meaning that for any mirror you might need there, the local or municipal authority would be responsible. Unfortunately, the subsidiarity principle means that solutions can be found below the county level. Unless the district administrator happens to be in your local shooting club, I expect your request to be denied.

Thank you for your (sobering) information. I had assumed that this would be approved along with the building permit / planning permission. The service road connects to the district road. I hadn’t considered a mirror yet. Maybe that will help. Tomorrow the building authority will take a look at the road/junction.

Looks great. We are also getting white risers and white-stained beech treads.
I can already start looking forward to it.
