ᐅ The building authority rejected the construction application because the house was planned too far back on the lot.

dynaudio79Hello everyone.
The bad luck with our house project just doesn’t stop.
Today, after 3 months, we finally received the notice for a hearing from the building authority.
The house exceeds the rear building line by nearly 2 meters (6.5 feet).
Unfortunately, the woman at the office won’t be back until Thursday.
What options do we have now?
Is it possible to simply move the house forward, or does everything need to be reapplied for?
We are getting married on Thursday, and this really hits us hard.
Best regards

Hopefully, it is their responsibility to clarify that.
You will likely have to adhere to the building boundary on your side; authorities usually don’t compromise on such basics.
You will probably need to resubmit the site plan, but this should not significantly affect the house itself.
Do yourselves a favor: put some pressure on the planner, then erase it from your minds and have a wonderful wedding!
This situation is out of your hands...

What options do we have now?Ask the planner on what basis the house location was determined, why boundaries/alignments/lines were not adhered to, and why they thought it was acceptable to submit something like this to the building authority without coordination. As far as I know, there are only two options now:
1. Appeal against the rejection, but you will need strong reasons why the rejection is "wrong." (However, it doesn't seem to be.) As far as I know, you can no longer modify the building application. So the only option left is...
2. Submit a new building application that complies with the building limits.
And yes, this is the time to really push the planner.

So does this mean we can’t simply submit a new design and move the house 2m (6.5 feet) forward, but have to start over completely???

Or even better, contact your local building authority directly. Clarify under which conditions your project can receive approval. Otherwise, there is nothing to add to the explanations from @cschiko.
