Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Today a miracle happened. The telecommunications company... Background story: The gas supplier, electricity provider, and water supplier all laid their connections almost simultaneously in one single trench. Then they closed it up. The electricity provider asked the gas supplier to keep the access hole open for a bit longer. I mean, that sounds technical, but in reality, the civil engineers coordinate this. The electricity provider wanted to send someone to connect the cable to the power line so that it would be live. I found out about this. The telecom cable was just lying there, easily accessible; the empty conduit was already in place—they had the electrical crew include it for a small bribe.
Guys, how long will that stay open... a week? Yeah, there’s still a gas leak in Arensbök, they have to fix it. Cool, a week... I immediately called the telecom customer service. A friendly lady... hole is open... empty conduit is in... no digging required... quarter of an hour, and you’re done... couldn’t be easier... now it’s your turn. The telecom lady thought for a moment and said, I’ll give you the number of the company in Kiel that handles this for us. Also the site manager’s mobile number, try your luck.
I called him on Thursday; today is Monday. The telecom cable is installed. Done. See? It works. Karsten

Ah, okay. To be honest, we didn't really consider or worry about that at all.

In a new development area, that would be an issue since there are multiple construction sites where a thief could take something.
Luckily, nothing has gone missing at our place.

Green and gray flexible pipes lying on the wooden floor of a construction site.

Electrical cables in green and white conduits on an OSB wall in the shell construction.

Tangled cables: orange, black, and white wires hanging on the wall and floor in an installation room.

Smells good!

No joke: a wooden house simply smells wonderful like wood. And not just inside the house, but throughout the entire construction site.
