Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Does anyone know the difference between KANN and KANN Baustoffsystem when it comes to paving and terrace coverings? Are these products intended for professional trade versus DIY stores under different names or quality?

We are currently considering KANN Farini 60x40cm (24x16 inches) for the terrace and KANN Multitec for the driveway.

There are also "DIY store versions" of these two products from KANN Baustoffsystem under different names. It’s similar to generic products from ALDI; they don’t carry the brand name, but everyone knows they come from the same factory. Hence the question above.

…and now we have the first construction issue. The tiling supervisor is really frustrating me. He doesn’t communicate agreed details. The installation quality is still okay, but it doesn’t look as discussed.

The cladding around the bathtub was supposed to be wood effect! The tilers even asked their supervisor how the customer wanted it. We’re leaving it as is now because the floor and the wall frame are already wood effect, and I’ve always had a subtle feeling it might be a bit too much.

Then, only the wall frame was supposed to be wood effect. Installed on Friday evening. There was a trim strip for the shower tray that was not white. We had to have it removed today.

I think it looks better in white when it’s placed in a niche like that. If the tub were freestanding on two or three sides, I would also cover it with the floor tile, but as it is, I find this arrangement quite harmonious.

If the bathtub were freestanding on two or three sides, I would also cover it with the floor tile, but as it is, I find it perfectly coordinated.

We’ll see once the floor is installed. The plumber also wanted to run the mechanical ventilation pipes annoyingly under the ceiling. I said that wouldn’t work. The reason was that the basement ceiling is too low (2.38m (7 ft 10 in)) and the utility room is too small at 11m² (118 ft²). We had to have other things reinstalled, otherwise I wouldn’t have accepted it. Last week was pretty frustrating overall.

Oh, and the electrician registered the main power connection by e-mail but didn’t notice that the e-mail was not sent. Yay… not.

- Kitchen installation is scheduled for 17.06.
- Blower door test is on 03.07.

At the current stage of construction, you can basically skip it...

Explain, please—I didn’t understand the comment.
- The front door will be installed in mid-June
- The fireplace insert will be installed in 1–2 weeks
- The mechanical ventilation system will be operational next week

So what exactly is the showstopper if the move-in is planned for 07/14?
