Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Still not very exciting, but our excavation pit has now more or less reached its final dimensions.

However, the photo is from the day before yesterday, and a bit has already changed since then. After the subcontractor from the energy provider missed the scheduled date for the temporary power supply, the crane will only arrive today instead of yesterday as originally planned.

The pit won’t get any bigger, except on the right side where the excavator is—there we still need to dig a few meters deeper for the automated parking system. Due to the neighbor’s boundary construction, the pit will be created in sections there, and the excavation wall for the parking system will be built directly with precast elements.

Zaba, I envy you for the stairs... I also had a temporary construction staircase, but the interior plasterer wanted to get rid of it because it bothered him. Since then, it’s back to climbing ladders...

The ground floor and garage are built with masonry; next week the ceiling/roof will be installed.

Unfinished concrete structure, stacks of green pallets, rods, dirt piles; forest in the background.

Come on, seriously?! My plasterers didn’t complain at all. It was just a bit more effort for the guys to work around it and to clean the stairwell upstairs, but no complaints. I would have told him off.

The positive feeling of progress during the shell construction made climbing the ladder bearable. In hindsight, it was really frustrating.

What did your staircase installer say, and who is covering the extra costs?

There are only two construction projects here that really impress me. Yours and the plan of the one with 200 sqm (2,150 sq ft) per floor plus an underground garage. It would be interesting to see how things are going with his project now.

@Zaba12 . You mentioned a construction project here with 200 sqm (2,150 sq ft) per floor plus an underground garage. Do you perhaps have a link or an idea where I can find more information about it in this forum? Many thanks!

Try asking @11ant; they have an elephant-like memory. I believe they posted about it sometime in autumn 2018. It was really impressive. They didn't want to disclose the cost, but we estimated it to be around 2-3 million euros. The thread easily ran over 20-30 pages because everyone was so impressed.
