Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Okay, my foundation slab measures only 8.20m x 10m (27 feet x 33 feet), and now that the house is built, the 131 sqm (1,410 sq ft) of living space over 2 full floors fits perfectly. But when the slab was just there, I really had some doubts for a few days.

Is it just us, or are civil engineering companies generally frustratingly unreliable? We were told the excavator would arrive Saturday or Monday to do some preparatory work for the bricklayers’ deliveries. The excavator was still on site, but now it’s gone and nothing has been done. So frustrating.

Meanwhile, here’s another photo of our steel beams. They look much more impressive in person than the dashed lines and notes on the construction drawings.

Shell construction: White aerated concrete blocks, steel beams, support scaffolding on concrete floor.

In our case, the civil engineer started about two weeks later than originally scheduled, but that wasn’t really his fault. The site that was supposed to be finished before ours had problems with the water and sewage connections due to incorrect plans, which caused significant delays.

Otherwise, we were very satisfied with the civil engineer.

In the meantime, I started having doubts about whether the large tiles could be installed neatly.
Today the tiler began work, and I am already quite impressed.
He started just before 8 a.m., and when I arrived at the site at 8:10 p.m., he was already cleaning up and tidying. Amazing.

Did one person install those alone? Here, they always say tiles larger than 60cm x 60cm (24 inches x 24 inches) require two people...

We had 120x60cm (47x24 inches) wall tiles installed by one person. Definitely not a speed record, but it worked out.
