Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

At the moment, we are also handling this as a one-person job. However, it definitely isn’t fun, especially since one tile weighs over 16kg (35 lbs).

"Meanwhile, I started to have doubts about whether it would be possible to install the large tiles properly." With a leveling system like yours, it is easier the larger the tiles are. The only problem with large tiles is making clean cuts for the openings.

We haven’t reached the tiling stage yet, but our interior walls are getting insulated:

Several wood fiber insulation boards (Steico) wrapped in plastic, stacked in the construction area.

These will go between the Fermacell panels:

Our bathroom is slowly taking shape. This is where the vanity will go; the wall separates the shower:

This is where the toilet will be installed, and next to it, with the small step, the bathtub:

...and a sink is already mounted and even has a faucet: you could almost wash your hands in the workshop now

@hampshire: I have to put it simply: the bathroom skylight is just awesome. The sun even shines on your head while you’re using the toilet.

There are only two building projects here that really impress me. Yours and the one of a guy who seemed to have about 200 square meters (2,150 square feet) per floor plus an underground garage. I’d be curious to see how his is coming along now.

We’re making progress here too. We now have drywall installed in the house (shame on me), so the ventilation ducts and the slab are now covered. The ceilings are being carefully wallpapered. Next week the painting will start, then the pull-down attic stairs will be installed in the upper floor ceiling, the electrical panel, sockets, and switches will go in. The screed heating program should be finished by the weekend. The tiler is expected to start work on the bathroom walls soon. Everything’s moving along.

I’m especially looking forward to the fireplace. It won’t be installed until the painting is finished in two weeks. We gave the painters some wall paint from Wanders24 with a shimmering finish in gray-silver for the fireplace column.

And the lighting for the kitchen cabinetry and island is already purchased.
