Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

You need to assess what you feel comfortable with. For example, we applied for an exception for 14 cm (5.5 inches) more wall height than was permitted and consequently took this into account for the building setback distances as well.

The chimney installer is doing an excellent job. Yesterday, the base was built and the support plate installed, today they worked at full speed on the masonry, and this evening the surface will be filled with mesh and plastered.

Wow, that’s really a massive, dominant structure.

I flew quite high up. Now you can see the plot, the construction site, and the forest.

That was meant as a joke.

The floor is hand-planed...

We also have a hand-planed floor... incomparable in both appearance and feel... walking barefoot on it is really enjoyable!

I completely agree with you, it does look like that in the picture. In reality, it does not come across as overwhelming at all, since it is positioned on an axis where the room measures 9.5 meters (31 feet) in one direction and almost 8 meters (26 feet) in the other.
