This is a "truss roof," completely normal, right?

Yes, this is a prefabricated truss roof structure made by the roof truss manufacturer and assembled by the carpenter.

The load transfer in the structural framework is managed at multiple points, similar to a timber frame construction. In a purlin-rafter system, the load is supported by the purlins. These are also significantly thicker.

This is a completely standard timber truss roof. There is nothing drafty about it.

Disadvantage: no proper attic, but cheaper than standard ones.
Our neighbor even had his delivered in two parts and installed on-site using a crane.
