Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Construction site: red brick house in shell construction, scaffolding around the building, crane in the background.

Here is a quick update:

- The windows have been measured and ordered. Installation will take place in January.
- The staircase has been measured.
- On Friday, the ceiling panels will be installed. Electrical and ventilation installations will also be prepared in the upper floor ceiling.
- On Monday, the upper floor ceiling will be poured.
- On Tuesday, the roof will be raised.
- Rough-in plumbing and electrical work will take place in January.

It’s hard to believe that even though we only started with the L-shaped concrete blocks on October 16, everyone has kept their promise that the building shell will be weather-tight by Christmas. Quite amazing.

Intense, right? I mean, many have said, yeah yeah, the shell construction goes quickly. But from the site grading (Okay, the weather and rain softened the soil at the top so the terrace/carport L-bricks couldn’t be installed) through the basement and the rest shown in the photo, everything was built up from the ground in 8 weeks.

I don’t really find that all that intense. Your house is architecturally quite "simple," without offsets or anything like that. So it goes quickly.

Is the basement made of precast elements or was it cast in place?

The shell of the building goes up quickly... after that, it takes much longer.

The basement is completely cast in place, so cast-in-place concrete.

I’m still impressed. My construction coordinator mentioned a completion date for the first time last week, it might be July 2019 :-p
