Finally, the screed work is underway and will be completed today.

Unfortunately, there was a scheduling misunderstanding with the garage door installer; he had to drop everything else and rush over to install everything at lightning speed (2 gates, 1 door) so that the screed could be applied there today.

Can’t this just be a standard practice with the general contractor? It’s also the case with the general contractor we currently prefer.

Are there any disadvantages?

That is what is specified in the scope of work. There was no further discussion about it, and my expert did not mention during the contract signing that we should negotiate a different option.
