Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Maybe it’s just 11cm (4.3 inches) of Ytong, so I still prefer the solution without the groove.

That’s the only acceptable excuse.

The real problem is that no one even asks whether the homeowner is willing to do it themselves or pay extra for it. Everyone tries to rush the entire house to completion in just three days to move quickly onto the next site.

The end result: our electrician still has to keep coming back because the work was poorly done. By now, we’ve decided to have our trusted electrician handle it.

So after two Saturdays of "chasing" (cutting channels), I can say: yes, it is still being done.
We are using Poroton blocks and have cut channels everywhere ourselves, following the electrician’s instructions. Our plaster will then be about 2cm (0.8 inches) thick.

This is how the electrical work looks in our house. All the walls have been chased.
Interior wall made of white aerated concrete blocks with visible cables, pipes, and moisture marks.

Wrong, because if you hadn’t done it, the electrician probably would have just installed the wiring surface-mounted.

We have now consulted three master electricians, and although they had differing opinions on other matters, they all gave the same statement regarding this... in many other new builds within our circle of acquaintances, it has also been done this way.

And that was the question... is chasing (wall chasing) still done... yes, it still is. Although apparently not everywhere.
