Why does everyone always want dark tiles? After 8 years, I’m cured. We have the Villeroy & Boch 60cm x 30cm (24in x 12in).
If we ever build again or change the tiles, it will be lighter. You can see every crumb and water drop from what feels like 10 meters (33 feet) away. I think the “mix” is what matters. On pure “dark” tiles, you see everything (really?) or at least more than on lighter or, like ours, “gray-veined” tiles. We are very happy that you don’t see every speck of dust or every stain immediately. Before, we lived in a rental with glossy, cream-colored tiles. THAT was a nightmare.

In the open-plan living/dining/kitchen area, we installed wood-look tiles throughout. They are simply a dream—easy to maintain, durable, and visually stunning. I would definitely do it again.

Upstairs, there will be solid ash wood floorboards, but we still need to install them. Really? I honestly don’t understand why they’re frowned upon xD
For me, there’s currently nothing better on the market... Everyone who has entered the house so far has been completely impressed. Ultimately, it’s also just about the maintenance... You don’t see dust, it’s very easy to sweep and vacuum, it doesn’t fade in the sunlight, it’s durable (especially with kids), and it just looks amazing 🙂
I don't think they are really frowned upon, are they? To me, they just look a bit too cold visually. In terms of maintenance and durability, tiles were my first choice as well, but generally, I'm not a big fan of ceramic flooring in living areas. It's more a matter of personal taste. If you like the look, I think tiles are the best option.
