Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Hello,
After receiving some good advice on the floor plan here, this is the current status of our project.
The interior work is in progress, and next week the drywall panels will be installed.

Best regards

@ Kalter.Kaffee: Great! I like the windows and the colors. Would you like to show us the view of the valley? It must be stunning.

@Kalter.Kaffee: very nice and harmonious style with a bit of a holiday atmosphere. May this last for a long time.

Thanks for the likes.
At the moment, I only have this older photo of the foundation slab preparation, with the valley in the background.
Construction site: foundation slab, scaffolding around a new house with roof, construction equipment in the foreground.

By the way, this is the Jagst valley, where many tourists have been visiting again since the easing of the COVID restrictions.

Your question sounded quite shocked because of the punctuation, and I just respond to that kind of thing with humor. Except for the thick wooden floor, the previous answers from the forum members have actually already mentioned the exact reasons. But it is mainly the inertia of a underfloor heating system that bothers me. When I’m cold because I got hit with too many snowballs during a fight, I just want to press my hands and my behind against the radiator, put my wet shoes underneath, and put the wet things on top.

I can understand that. When I built my previous house back in 1990, I did it exactly like that. Solid wood floorboards with cork underneath, plus tall tubular radiators colored by an auto spray painter, and a wood-burning stove. In terms of comfort, I could still live like that today—just fantastic, never cold feet. Now, in the new construction, I have underfloor heating, which is also nice, but I would never consider one or the other as the “right” way. At that time, underfloor heating was often criticized because of actual issues some people had with their veins—I don’t know. Leaning against a warm radiator has always had something nice about it. I like your house, even though mine would look different today. It always has to fit its OWN time and OWN life philosophy. You won’t have any problems with that. Many people always told me what to do or not do, but mostly I insisted and did things my way (usually simpler). Looking back today, I’m glad about that because I mostly didn’t like other people’s houses. So... there is only YOUR feeling about whether you drive a Mercedes, Audi, or a bicycle. Living is private and completely individual, and that is often forgotten.
