These are classic houses that lead to divorces. This can also turn out to be a positive outcome. I have no personal experience with this, but over the years I have come to realize that leaving a partner, even at a significant financial loss, can be an excellent contribution to a better quality of life. Of course, it is methodically easier to separate if that is what you want. :p

But joking aside, our architect currently has such a project and estimates the costs (in a structurally weak region with moderate construction prices) at over 2500 €/m² (over $230 per sq ft). The excavation work on the ground floor alone, to achieve the necessary ceiling height and the underfloor heating base, is brutal since everything had to be gutted just to be able to use a mini excavator. Doing it yourself and having it done are two very different things. DIY is the financial trump card in projects like these! Not for me.

Yes, the white frames, which can also be in a contrasting color.
What kind of house do you have?
Why? We have it like this and find it visually very appealing.
By the way, there are no brick facades in this whole area, it’s like wallpaper here: nobody does it.

I was just recently in a new housing development where 80% of the houses were finished with render and 20% with brick veneers… about 10 years old. You could clearly see the condition of the rendered facades, but not at all with the brick veneers.
Many also don’t use brick veneers because they are not allowed to or because it’s more expensive. I think it’s a shame when someone wants it but isn’t permitted.

But it’s just like wallpaper... just as in Sweden people build with wood and maybe have a sauna, here you won’t find brickwork or wallpaper… 99% of the time, both outside and inside are plastered… Bavaria… Concrete stays concrete, okay, then it’s a wallpaper—a wallpaper that is more expensive and more durable :-).
Guest bathroom almost finished.
- Baseboards are missing
- The correct actuator plate is still missing.
The heating installer ordered the wrong ones twice 🙁.
You even create an Excel spreadsheet for plumbing with EAN number, manufacturer part number, color, size, etc., and yet the heating installer ends up ordering nearly half of it incorrectly. Also installed the wrong fitting, which is why the actuator plate sits a bit lower.
As soon as you’re away from the construction site for 1-2 days, things like this happen 😳.
