Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Next milestone reached.
The scaffolding is gone, and suddenly it actually looks like a “house.”

Are those wooden windows, and do you have a church as a neighboring building?

No. And now I know I’ll get scolding from you: these are foil-covered Schüco uPVC windows. And yes, it is a church. Next to it is the associated kindergarten xD

That’s not illegal—I simply always provide truthful information about whether I consider PVC suitable for use in window profiles. By now, I have come to recommend aluminum only for the stressed components, and otherwise accept the reality that the majority of home builders consider plastic windows to be affordable. I attribute this to the fact that private builders remain too strongly influenced by their role as consumers to reasonably switch selectively and act as investors.

If I had bumped into aluminum windows as often and had to remove plaster residue as with my plastic windows, I would have had 1000 ugly scratches on them. Plastic is much more forgiving. And I have a direct comparison to aluminum windows at my workplace...

That was exactly why I ultimately decided against aluminum.

Wood on the inside, aluminum on the outside if budget is not an issue.
