Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Bright empty room with large three-part windows, building materials on the floor.

The floor in the living room is finished, and tomorrow we will move in with the bare essentials. Although we still have the apartment until the end of January, the heating has started acting up again, and since the apartment is being sold, the landlord is only doing quick fixes...

Looks good. How many square meters (square feet) is it?

It’s around 35 something. About 7 something by 5 something. Ceiling height is 4 meters (13 feet).

Something we hardly believed ourselves: our table has arrived, and I actually managed to get the chairs relatively quickly (for anyone who’s not afraid to order design classics online, I highly recommend the website CASA Finest Living from Berlin – this site will be my downfall, just so many cool pieces! Plus, incredibly friendly phone service combined with insanely fast shipping – I give them a solid 5 stars!):

We are very excited – although it might be necessary to replace the tabletop after all. This one is made of reclaimed oak and unfortunately has a few imperfections (voids in the wood), and we’re not sure yet how these will develop. We’ll see. It would really break my heart if we had to return it. It’s basically just two oak planks – and those are hard to get consistently in large sizes, usually tabletops like this are made from several glued panels.

But finally the lamps match the table – before, they just looked ridiculously oversized...

The kitchen is now finally completely finished! Only the alignment and gap dimensions will be adjusted again in a few months (once everything has settled). I’ll make a separate post about that here in the kitchen subforum.

Awesome table!
Cool lamp!
Would you mind sending me a private message with the manufacturers etc.?
Best regards & thank you

I completely believe you. But we can’t afford the best architects.
By “the best architects“ I meant: “Even they do things like this,” or “Symmetry is not a requirement for a house’s aesthetic.”
Therefore, it shouldn’t be a problem for you either to move away from perfect symmetry.

@Tina mit K: The room looks like it will become very cozy. The large volume not only provides space but also ensures more comfortable air.
I’m happy for you.
