Mounted with raw steel – overall, we like it, but a few details could have been better. For example, we find the golden screw heads in the raw steel really out of place (hopefully, they can still be replaced). Also, the screws at the bottom are not parallel to the seams in the base above (probably only noticeable if you enlarge the picture – but we admit we are real nitpickers). One part is still missing – it didn’t fit properly and we did not accept it. It now has to be made again.
The glue joints are quite visible at the edges:
We were told this can’t be avoided with safety glass – still, it’s not very attractive. I checked in our office today: yes, similar markings are often found in the corners there as well. So it seems to be true. Since we want to leave it without a handrail on top, it’s quite visible (otherwise it would be hidden under a handrail).
Now we have to decide whether to accept and get used to it or to install a handrail after all. We actually like the slight “infinity” feeling without a handrail. We don’t really want a finishing trim on top.
And we received pictures from the kitchen carpenter – our drawers are ready:
From Wednesday, the kitchen will be installed and should be finished by Friday.
Next disappointment: both countertops are unfortunately delayed (and I’m really frustrated, since I have been telling the carpenter since April that we want to move in July, and now this!).
So, we will have to live with a temporary OSB solution on the island (without a cooktop) until early August and a similar temporary solution on the kitchen wall cabinets until late August / early September. That also means no sink! I am considering buying the cheapest sink from OBI for this time and having it installed temporarily. Otherwise, for every sip of water or wiping a cloth, we would have to go to the guest bathroom.

@Climbee Is there anything I should consider? These are hygienic shower sprays. I first encountered them in East Asia. There, people rarely use toilet paper; instead, they rinse their bottom or other affected body parts *g* – and yes, they effectively replace the bidet, which there wasn’t room for anymore.
What to consider: if you don’t want to just spray cold water down there, you’ll need both hot and cold water supply lines installed, and the hygienic shower should have a mixer or controller for that (the ones in East Asia usually only have on/off settings and always deliver cold water – which is not such a big deal in their climate, but might be less comfortable here).
These hygienic showers are not easy to find – I’ve only seen them available at evenes. Their quality isn’t impressive though. I hope that someday during a vacation (they are more common in Italy, for example) I can find a higher-quality one and replace it.

hampshire8 Jul 2019 15:52For the first time, we now have a reason for a quality discussion. As was already suspected in another thread, the Sicis mosaic did not turn out well, and even after grouting, a few tiles are misaligned – which is easily fixable – but also the size format of the delivered sheets is an issue. Let’s see how the discussion goes. I don’t want to accept it as it is, and for the tiler, this will be an expensive job with a lot of work.
