Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

I wanted it like that too, but my wife wanted everything plain white. So unfortunately no.

8 white switches on that great gray wall? Ouch... but well, luckily that’s something you can change at any time afterward.

So, we are in the final stages. Many of the new pieces of furniture are already assembled. Nevertheless, there is still quite a bit to do.
Hanging lamps (inside and outside)
Programming KNX
Applying silicone sealing
Window sills
Small things in the bathroom like towel holders, toilet brush, etc.
...
We made a list with almost 100 items.
After that, we will move in. Hopefully the weekend after next.

Personally, I would never build in this style, BUT it looks really great.
Congratulations!

The fireplace looks good. Will the switches also stay cool enough near the fireplace?

Ah, just think of the great things you could have done with the money spent on that stove^^ I'm always glad that we removed something like that from our wish list right from the start.

I was also advised against it – but I still feel a bit nostalgic. I really enjoy watching the fire.
Well, sitting naked in front of it and thinking about which infusion to make in the living room now isn’t exactly fun either. But overall, it’s just nice *sigh*

Why is that? A stove is great—we love lighting it up, and the atmosphere it creates during the cold seasons is unbeatable. The radiant heat is also fantastic.

For a low-energy house, you just need to build the stove accordingly.

Economically, it’s no more sensible than a ventilation system. Both are pure luxury.
