Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

The Stauden are the southern part of the nature park "Augsburg Western Forests," and that’s where he comes from.

No, I also don’t believe you can make anything significant out of Stauden wood. The guy simply comes from there, and his first trade was as a carpenter, hence the name. By now, he is not only a master carpenter but also a master joiner, wood technician, energy consultant, and who knows what else.

Honestly, I haven’t given much thought to why he uses calcium silicate bricks there. I could ask.

The reason he uses sand-lime bricks at all, I attribute to still somewhat immature experimental results, also trying to incorporate something wooden. It is definitely close to Pareto optimal this way. The high density itself dampens vibrations well. The format is probably more practical for installation, as is the dry laying method. I would suspect it would be better, in the absence of a longer brick format, at least to lay them in stretcher bond, if not in herringbone pattern. But it might be the case that this would mean about twenty percent more labor time for only a 1.3 percent improvement.

And the installation of the ventilation ducts then becomes more complicated as well

Finally, the windows are installed.
I have been waiting a long time for this.

Large glass sliding door with gray frame in front of a light brick wall; ladder and construction tools visible.

Large glass sliding door window in a brick wall; construction site with scaffolding and soil.

Double glass door unit with gray frame in front of brick wall, view of fields and trees.

Window in a light brick wall; reflective glass showing trees, shadow over the wall.

Exterior of a light gray brick wall with two windows; hoses and building materials on the ground.

You end up getting annoyed about it after the first summer.
