Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Using appropriate accelerators quickly pays off when you compare ongoing rent, standby interest, and so on. Usually, exterior plastering is done after the screed, so using accelerators means the scaffolding needs to be up for a shorter time... it quickly becomes cost-effective.

Even with an accelerator, moving in by January is not possible. It will more likely be March if interior plastering and similar work are not completed now.

For us, it took almost 3 months after pouring the screed with accelerator. The screed was walkable after 2 days and ready for covering in just under 3 weeks.

One must not forget that during Christmas, sidewalks are usually closed for two weeks.

The screed should be walkable after a few days. Then we will heat it for about three weeks starting around mid to late November, using several construction dryers.

The rough plan is to finish by the end of January; if it takes until February, that is also not a problem.

Our scaffolding has been taken down, and we’re very happy about that.

In the panoramic photo, you can’t see it clearly, so please tell us: how exactly did you solve the issue with the triple patio door?

Wow, I hadn’t heard anything about the arches until now.

Me neither, but they are actually segmental arches, and very subtle ones at that — I still would have preferred if the windows had matched the arches.

We decided to have the patio door installed as a lift-and-slide door. This would have added about €3000 net to the cost, which we didn’t think was worth it.

From the inside, the two left panels can be fully opened as a French door configuration. The third panel on the far left is a standard additional door.

I was skeptical about this choice at first. Now I have to admit that I really like it, and especially so do we.
