Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

One more question.
My electrician says that if you don't want to have your thermostat integrated into the combined unit with the light switch, the thermostat must be installed slightly offset above the light switch. I want a cost-effective solution for the granny flat, but now it looks a bit messy with the wall already channeled.

Has anyone else heard the same?

No, nobody made a mistake.
We overlooked it in the drawing.
So it’s entirely our fault.

Is the window asymmetrical according to the drawing, or did the masons mess up?

Ah, okay. Well, I think there’s definitely room for a case of Radler or shandy there.

That won’t be enough. It’s not a huge effort, but definitely more than just a beer crate. With this offset, you’ll need to build up the wall if you want to keep the same window size.

Why would it be cheaper if the light switch and thermostat are not combined in one unit?

Our thermostats are also installed higher up, but not staggered.
