Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Here is a nice close-up detail...

Facade of a house with light wood cladding and a semicircular window under the roof.

We are getting a fairly large / powerful unit with a corresponding RPM. The unit will be placed in the attic. I want to have rubber mats underneath to reduce vibrations. I hope that will be enough to prevent noise disturbances in the bedrooms. Otherwise, more complex decoupling will have to be done afterwards...

Intuitively, I would suspect that this won’t be sufficient... Maybe you can get some advice from the system manufacturer? Our neighbors solved the "problem" of controlled residential ventilation in the attic with a concrete ceiling (bungalow). The construction company had done a similar setup before, but with a wooden ceiling, and the homeowner was not completely satisfied.

For us, it will be attached to the gable wall and properly decoupled there.

Our mechanical ventilation system for controlled indoor air quality is located in the attic/wooden ceiling, and it is not a problem.

What I originally wanted to say: The unit is relatively large/powerful and operates at a lower speed compared to smaller units. For a concrete ceiling, of course, it’s already too late.

The feedback from @Saruss reassures me for now. In our case, the layers from top to bottom should be as follows:
- Controlled residential ventilation main unit
- Rubber mat
- 22 mm (about 0.9 inches) OSB boards as storage floor
- 200 mm (about 8 inches) collar beams with 200 mm (about 8 inches) stone wool insulation between the collar beams
- Battens
- Counter battens
- Cladding (probably one layer of OSB and underneath another layer of gypsum board)

What is the purpose of battens and counter battens instead of directly installing OSB and then drywall?
