It was amazing how our open-plan room, with its acoustics, became a great sound experience (home theater) for TV and music thanks to the Hi-Fi receiver’s auto-calibration microphone.I have been using a 5.0 KEF setup connected to a Yamaha receiver for a few years now, calibrated through microphone measurement. It’s a dream. Every instrument, every voice, every sound effect is precisely accurate. It wasn’t cheap either, but definitely built to last.Currently, I’m leaning towards ordering a few upper cabinets from the kitchen manufacturer with a matching countertop, similar to those in the hallways but in Lava color to match the kitchen. That way, I’ll have a continuous countertop as well...
Only the Samsung TV Connect Box and Apple TV will be connected there anyway, so there’s no need for glass for an IR remote. We’ll see; it’s pretty far down on the priority list 😉

Of course, with two devices, it’s negligible. But with five devices, not anymore. The convenience of a single remote control is amazing. I press just one button, the TV turns on, the surround receiver powers up, and the Apple TV starts. Then I operate everything as if it were just one device. It doesn’t matter. I’m a nerd. I love it.

Correcting a room’s acoustic shortcomings with digital equalizers only works within certain limits, and it’s even more challenging in modern living spaces that are often designed with hard surfaces. Reverberation, standing waves, and similar issues cannot be properly fixed digitally but require careful planning during the design phase as well as treatment with absorbers and acoustic elements.
