Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

If you light up your house only when you yourself are not outside and actually need the light, animals can be disturbed by this, for example—regardless of the neighbor, who might theoretically find it quite nice.

I was referring to the motion sensor mentioned above, which would drive the neighbors crazy.

Whether I do something myself or walk by and it switches on automatically, what difference does that make?

Motion sensors, despite contrary advertising claims, can sometimes be triggered by cats, foxes, raccoons, and similar animals. Depending on the location near forest and meadow, this can often lead to continuous lighting.

Cats do tend to like gardens from time to time (quite often), like our neighbor’s cat does with ours, for their bathroom breaks.
At least I can make some light for them.

Motion detectors can also be set to respond only to larger objects.
I find dramatic façade lighting appealing. However, it should suit the building.
We have not implemented anything like that.
Fun fact:
Since LEDs have become common, electricity consumption has actually increased. They are energy-efficient but tend to be left on longer...
