Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Yes, I also find it really unfortunate, but there is no way around it.
It will be fully glazed, so at least it will still feel somewhat open.

Unfortunately, due to working from home, I have to close my studio.
Working from home + children + open-plan space don’t really work well together 🙄:p

I would actually try to keep it somewhat "mobile," since this area was deliberately chosen as part of the house’s character, and you will miss it later. Children’s behavior changes… or maybe there is an option for a garden office? At least for the time when the children are at home. Before renovating at great expense and losing the sense of space, I would really consider ALL other options first.

Glass? Then you can see the kids playing wildly, and they can see you. Oh dear, in any case, due to this pandemic, having an office for many home-office workers will definitely become mandatory for future planning.

... like in a zoo. I don’t think that’s a good idea.

That’s how it will be, but I can always lock the door :p
Removing it later won’t be a problem.

Right now, this is the situation here... without children. I'm sitting in the living room, and my wife is on the phone a good distance away. The wide glass door is closed. Still, you can hear it—playing children much more clearly. You probably won’t achieve complete quiet just by using glass alone.
