Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

When we received a payment request even though the calculated construction progress was not yet reached, I withheld the payment but provided an explanation. Usually, this happened because the subcontractor reported their work as completed even though it wasn’t. If you pay under these circumstances, the subcontractor moves on to the next site instead of continuing their work immediately. If you don’t pay, the customer service representative from Heinz von Heiden would push the craftsman to proceed. The completion report, not the approval by a construction supervisor, was the deciding factor. However, the customer service representative would also strongly reprimand me if I withheld any payment.

Did you just pay anyway? Or did you wait?
If I wait until the work is completed (in 1.5 weeks), wouldn't I be in default on payment? (?)

I shouted at the site manager asking what had gone wrong; he then contacted me immediately by phone and said we would receive a corrected construction progress report next week.
Payment will only be made once the items invoiced are actually completed. Of course, no money is paid beforehand.
It is important that everything is always documented in writing, including the notification that something is wrong.

We're finally getting started. Just a few hours after I took this picture, we already had the invoice for the second installment in the mailbox. They’re quick with the billing.

As long as the work gets done too! We're jealous.

Thanks, I'll just talk to the site manager tomorrow. It will probably be cleared up. They never wanted any money before anything was completed.

It’s really amazing how quickly things sometimes get done.

Last weekend, the interior plastering:

Interior under construction with ceiling framework, shell walls, and large windows.

Interior of a shell construction with blue insulation, red ventilation ductwork, and windows.

Then, at the beginning of the week, the underfloor heating installation:

Underfloor heating pipes arranged in a spiral pattern on insulation in the utility room.

Then midweek, the soil drilling:

And now on Saturday, the screed is being poured. So only photos from the front door or through the window, since the screed can’t be walked on yet.

Unfinished interior: wall surfaces, stairs on the right, open doorway on the left, cable connection.

Empty room under construction with large window fronts, open ceiling, cables, and concrete floor.

And since I liked the cable mess some forum members showed recently, here’s ours:
(unfortunately, the photos don’t capture how many cables actually come into the technical room...)

Cable mess of white, gray, and green cables loosely hung on the ceiling and wall.

Wired building installation: numerous loose cables and red flexible conduits on the ceiling.

Unfortunately, you can’t include more than 10 images in one post.
However, I really want to share an overall view of the house that I took today.
The color is definitely polarizing, but I encourage everyone to be bold with color and move away from just “white/anthracite.” It’s worth it. We are so happy we chose colors that we initially thought of as quite “modest.”
We love it.
