We definitely wanted chairs with armrests at every seat because we often sit at the table for long periods with guests or family, and eventually you don’t know where to put your arms. We find a chair you can really sink into and rest your arms on much more comfortable. For getting up, yes, you have to push it all the way back. But that hasn’t bothered us so far.
I wouldn’t consider curtains at all – I just don’t like them, and as someone with dust allergies, that’s another reason against them. But we don’t miss them at all...I agree with you. Dining chairs without armrests exist mainly due to space constraints. Just put in a properly sized table, and then you can have chairs with armrests too.

I also like your curtains, you're right, without them it would feel too bare. I thought for a long time about why it’s different with you compared to us:
we have a (though whitewashed) wooden ceiling. Adding curtains on top would be too much for me personally. With your white ceiling, it’s a different story.
However, I can’t even begin to compete with your view...

@Climbee Yes, that’s true, curtains would be too much for your place... Besides, you have terrace balustrades as privacy screens.
I won’t share my location online here, and I don’t have enough posts yet to use private messages.
@Lumpi_LE I don’t remember where the curtains are from, could be Ikea.

We will have floor-to-ceiling curtains throughout and hope they will complement the architecture of the house. Our drywall installers recessed the curtain tracks into the ceiling specifically for this. Personally, I think curtains are experiencing a renaissance at the moment.
