Oh... Climbee, I just reread your message...
You had written about using raw steel instead of Corten due to the price advantage!
That was my initial idea too (after two years, there probably wouldn’t be much difference with Corten), but we were advised against it because raw steel actually corrodes quite badly. Then my husband was worried about staining, and since there are light-colored steps right next to the raised bed and the bench, it seemed too risky for us that they might end up with rust stains!

If your plaster or wall system is already synthetic resin-based, you can paint it with whatever you want. But if it’s a mineral-based system, applying a synthetic resin coating will destroy all the beneficial properties of the system.According to the building specifications, we will have a troweled lime plaster. What paint would you recommend for this?Affordable corten steel raised garden beds are available at Bauhaus. You always have to consider the ground underneath, as the rust flakes off or washes away downward. Alternatively, apply a clear lacquer once the desired look is achieved. There are products online that create the rust effect within 1-2 days. Then you just apply lacquer on top, and it’s done.
Corten steel against slugs
You gave me an idea. The slugs are eating everything. The flower boxes now have copper strips, but they just don’t stick to the sandstone.
A strip of Corten steel around all the beds would fit well.
I’ll ask about the price for 20-25 cm (8-10 inches) high Corten steel. I’d probably need about 10-15 m (33-49 ft) to start with.

I've actually found some quite decent offers on Amazon... let's see.
Paint over rust? And it actually holds??? I need to look that up online...Try searching for KDB Corten steel. They have a full range of products and, if I remember correctly, some videos as well. You can also buy as a private customer (with a few exceptions).
