Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

The idea that one coat of paint is enough is just a myth, no matter how expensive the paint is. However, silicate paint should really be standard for new constructions nowadays.

Our painter also says that a single coat is a myth. Applying two coats simply increases impact resistance, and show me a room where you don’t eventually bump into the wall.

However, he mentioned a brand from Alpina that he thinks is quite decent. I’ll ask again because I liked a tint from Alpina the best, and now I’m a bit torn. I really like the color, but I don’t want paint with a synthetic resin base in my eco-friendly house.

You can have the paint mixed at a specialized store in the quality you want, regardless of which color fan deck the colors come from! I even got color samples from a hardware store because I liked the colors so much (Alpina Fine Colors), and then had the paint mixed as silicate paint – they can get the formulas for that!

So, as I said: most of the plaster is left "raw," but a dark gray wall had to be painted twice (which is logical for such a dark color). Everything white was actually painted only once and there are no uneven spots!

If you apply the primer coat with diluted paint, a single topcoat is sufficient.

@hemali2003 Paint based on synthetic resin (not vapor permeable) effectively seals your wall. To put it exaggeratedly, it gives the wall properties similar to a Tupperware container. Moisture exchange becomes much more difficult, which negatively affects the comfort inside the house.
This is why, regardless of the brand, there is a warning against using synthetic resin-based paints here.

Could you please share a picture of it?
So, is it basically exposed plaster on your walls? (I don’t really want wallpaper either, not even a painter’s fleece)
